G H Raisoni College of Engineering organised a two-week faculty development programme sponsored by AICTE on “3D printing for Industrial and Biomedical Applications†recently at GHRCE. The programme was inaugurated with the traditional lamp lightening ceremony at the hands of the Chief Guest, Dr Pulak Mohan Pandey, Professor, IIT Delhi in the gracious presence of Dr Preeti Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Dr Santosh Jaju, Dr Vibha Bora, Dr Rupesh Shelke, HOD, Mechanical Engineering Department.
The FDP was conducted for two weeks. The aim of this faculty development programme was to cover important topics related to 3D printing and its applications to industry and biomedical field.
“Whenever customized manufacturing is required and whenever one has to develop a product in a very short span of time then this technology is very usefulâ€, says Dr Pandey.
Dr Pulak in his key note address briefed about the importance of 3D printing from the history that how in earlier time 3D printing techniques were considered suitable only for the production of functional or aesthetical prototypes and today, the precision, repeatability and material range have increased to the point that some 3D printing processes are considered viable as an industrial production technology as well as in biomedical area. “3D printing shouldn’t be replaced or eliminate all manufacturing, it’s just a mythâ€, He further expressed.
FDP covered expert lectures by Dr. Pulak Mohan Pandey, IIT Delhi, Prof. B.
