Dr Kashif Syed DnB completed his MBBS from Amravati in 2001, MD in 2005 from IGGMC, Cardiology from Hyderabad Nation Board of Examination. Since the year 2011 Dr Syed has been associated with Cresent Hospital as Interventional Cardiologist and Director of Cathlab.
Speaking about heart related problems Dr Syed, informed that heart related problems are rising in India due to the increase in western lifestyle approach and stress. Earlier people use to do more of physical work as compared to today’s time. In last 20 to 30 years we have witnessed a dramatic change in the lifestyle of the people due to which a drastic genetic change has been observed in today’s generation. Hence, the people are becoming more prone towards the heart diseases.
Dr Syed suggested different ways where one can keep his heart healthy. According to him, a healthy heart requires fresh veggies, fruits, nuts, legumes, fish, egg, minimum consumption of salt, oily food, processed/ junk food and one must also avoid the consumption of red meat.
Secondly, physical activities for at-least 100-150 minutes per week is a must. The physical exercise has shown some amazing results in decrease of heart related problems. Another, aspect is one should go through a thorough medical checkup once a year after the age of 40 years for an early detection of any probable diseases.
Other measures to keep the risk of heart prone diseases at bay are stress free lifestyle, yoga and meditation. Also, one should keep a tight leash on factors like, obesity, Blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, hyper tension etc. must be under constant check as it may increase the risk of heart diseases.
Dr Syed disgraced the act of violence on the doctors and other medical fraternity. He said that, “government should take strict actions against such personnel who violate the law and disturbs the peaceful environment. Patients as well as their families must realize that doctors are working hard to save the lives of the people. He also suggested that the upcoming/aspiring doctors must communicate with patients and relatives and also be transparent about all the medical history and ongoing treatments of the patients. This will help doctors build trust in the hearts of the patients and their families.â€
Doctors must be taught about empathy and compassion towards patients. Reminiscing the achievements of his life Dr Syed said that “the biggest achievement in any doctor’s life is the moment where he saves a life. We Doctors cherish such moments. It feels that we are some superhero in this world, which also makes us realize the heavy burden of responsibilities lying on our shoulders.”
