In a shocking case of money laundering came in light in Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Interest Rebate Scheme in Amravati District.
The scheme was launched to motivate the farmers for the timely repayment of short-term crop loans and to encourage them for crop production.
The fraud is said to cause a loss of Rs 58 lakh to the State exchequer and in accordance with this Assistant cooperative officer, Vijay Bhaskar Lende has been suspended by the divisional deputy registrar on July 3.
The scheme which was launched for farmers used to get funds from district level and were controlled by Assistant Registrar of the tehsil although a fraud of Rs 58 lakh came in light when the amount was deposited under the scheme and was withdrawn by Lende.
A committee was then formed and thorough investigation in going one.
The panel has even recorded the confession on Vijay Lende in which he has confessed to committing the fraud and deposited the amount in the accounts of his relatives.
