Though the monsoon has arrived the situation of water storage is still gloomy in Wardha district. There total 11 dam in the region out of which 5 are still dry. The officials have expressed their concerns over depleted water storage level and are desperately waiting for more rains.
Wardha district has recorded 87.89 mm rain in the month of June, which is quite less than the normal average rainfall. According to Indian Meteorological department, Wardha district has received 35 % less rains in the first month of monsoon.
The Wardha Municipal council is currently extracting water from the deadstock of the dam to quench the thirst of the fulfill all the necessary requirement of the people. The local body is also using tankers to supply water to the areas facing drought like situations.
As per the information received, Tham, Panchdhara, Madan, Madan Unnai and Sukli small irrigation projects have dried up completely.
