Jigyasa, a student scientist program organized by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR NEERI) is being held at its premises at which several competitions are being conducted for 20 schools who participated in the event.
The program started from July 8 and will end on July 12. More than two hundred students have participated from the Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh state.
Today, on July 10 a poster making competition had been arranged for the students, at which the topics was, water and air pollution.
Similarly, NEERI will be arranging several events for the students as well as the faculties. The events include visit to Raman Science Centre, a workshop with Dr Ashok Rupner of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, lab visits, on site experiments and interaction with CSIR and NEERI scientists.
Yashashri Raut, a Project Assistant at Research Planning and Development Division said, “the students are introduced to different types of presentation on environmental science themes on this 5-day activity program. This year it is the fifth edition and is being conducted on biggest scale.â€
NEERI has been taking care of the hospitality and their faculties of the students from out stations which are around 225 in number. There are 20 schools from Maharashtra including Kendriya Vidyalaya, Nashik and Poddar school, Akola. Five school from Chhattisgarh have also participated in the programme.
