Ola cab launched electric cabs in the city of Nagpur for conservation of environment. The electric cars were let on rent of Rs.1000 per day by taking an amount of 15,000 towards deposit.
The car drivers are required to pay Rs.1000 to the Ola management and Rs.600 to 700 towards charging of the batteries of the car, while the gross business even after working for more than 12 hours does not go beyond Rs.1500 to 2000. This has not been affordable and hence the drivers resorted to strike in demand of minimum business of 2500 to 3000.
As the Ola management did not pay much heed to their demands the drivers of electric cars have gone on strike since last four days led by Nagpur Electric Ola Partner Group.
The car drivers have been demanding reduction in the rent of the car from 1000 to 500 if in case it is not possible for the Ola management to provide a business of 2500 to 3000. The car operators have warned to continue the agitation until their demands are met. At present there are around 1000 Ola electric cars plying on the city roads.
