Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur organized state level one day workshop on “Scientific Goshala Management†at Silver Jubilee Auditorium of Nagpur Veterinary College on July 28, 2019. The workshop was inaugurated by Minister of Finance, Planning and Forests Sudhir Mungantiwar and Minister of Animal Husbandry Mahadev Jankar.
Universities Vice-Chancellor Colonel (Dr.) Prof. Ashish Paturkar, Chief Coordinator of Deolapar Goshala Shri Sunil Mansinghka, Director (Extension and Training) Dr. P.T. Jadhao, Registrar Shri Chandrabhan Parate, Dean of College of Veterinary Science, Parbhani Dr. Nitin Markandey, Dean of Nagpur Veterinary College Dr. R. K. Ambadkar, Member of state level Goshala Committee Shri Sunil Suryavanshi & other dignitaries were present on the dais.
In his introductory speech Dr. Nitin Markandey specially congratulated Vice-Chancellor Dr. Paturkar for his guidance and constant persuasion to conduct an exhaustive survey of Goshalas across state through relevant experts and prepared a detailed and one of unique technical report based on the survey. At this occasion dignitaries released the technical report. Mr. Mungantiwar appealed university scientists to focus research on germplasm conservation of Indigenous breeds of cattle and he assured that state government will provide sufficient funds for the same. Shri Jankar expressed his confidence, that technical report of university as well as expert guidance will strengthen Goshalas and he also appealed to the Goshala personnel to keenly follow the instructions of university experts as well as state government veterinary officers.
Sunil Mansinghka expressed need to promote organic farming with the help of cow dung and urine, so that the unproductive cattle becomes a medium of income for small and marginal farmers. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Paturkar emphasized the importance of linking traditional Goshala management with scientific practices and he also assured that expertise of MAFSU will be always available to solve the difficulties related to Goshala Management.
Dr. Amol Patil conducted the programme and organizing secretary of workshop Dr. Sariput Landge proposed vote of thanks. After the inauguration, various experts deliberated speeches on different technical aspects and Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Jankar attended all the sessions.
The valedictory function of workshop was graced by eminent scientist Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar.
