“Now, the vehicles will be charged at the charging station at Suresh Bhatt auditorium. This will be a totally path breaking project at Suresh Bhatt auditorium which is already running on solar energy”, said mayor Nanda Jichkar on the inauguration of the vehicle charging station in the Suresh Bhatt premises.
With Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s conceptualization, this project has been started and it can charge 5 vehicles at a time. The station has been built in the parking of Suresh Bhatt auditorium.
MLA Sudhakar Kohale, Dr. Milind Mane, deputy mayor Deepraj Pardikar, opposition leader Tanaji Wanve, Ravindra Thakre, Divya Dhurde, Sangita Girhe, Abhay Gotekar, Madhuri Thakare, Samita Chakole, Nishant Gandhi, Mangla Khekare, Rupali Thakur, Vishakha Bante, Ram Joshi, Manoj Talewar, Ajay Mankar, etc were present at the occasion.
Mayor Nanda Jichkar said that apart from cement roads and flyovers, development in other sectors is equally important. Pollution has become a major problem in today’s time and electric vehicles will help in the reduction of pollution to a great level. many countries in the world are promoting the use of electronic vehicles.
Sudhakar Kohale also highlighted the use of electric vehicles to curb the increasing pollution.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) controlling body chairman Girish Deshmukh conducted the said programme. This station can charge vehicles with batteries having a capacity of 50kW.
Vehicles manufactured in Japan, Europe and India can be manufactured at this station. Nitin Gadkari has made a provision of `1.19 cr available for this station.
Girish Deshmukh said that the station will soon be open for public and the executive engineer of electricity department said  that currently the capacity of the station is of charging vehicles with a capacity of 50kW. The battery with a capacity of 25kW can be charged in 25 minutes and the battery of an electric bus can be charged in approximately 1.30 hours.
