Chandrapur: All the seven gates of Irai dam in Chandrapur district were opened following incessant rains since last week. The floodwater has gushed into farmlands near Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station (CSTPS).
The release of river water made a five-foot-long crocodile swam into the farm near CSTPS. The amphibian was first spotted near the compound wall of Super Thermal Power Station by the villagers after which a large crowd had gathered around the area.
As soon as the officials of the forest department were informed about the incident, they reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation. With the help of a net, the crocodile was trapped and was later released into the Irai reservoir in Moharli Range Forest.
