For the citizens to get supply of pure water, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed to install 5 purification plants in each zone. Each plant will have capacity to deliver 1000 litres of purified water per hour. Thus 50 plants are going to be installed in 10 zones. The expenditure of 11 crores 9 lakhs 50 thousand will be made through the amount to be received from the government fund under Nagarotthan project. However the citizens will have to pay for the pure water. The proposal has been submitted to be approved in the meeting of standing committee scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
Each plant costs about 15 lakhs 9 thousand while the maintenance and repairs will incur 71,000 for next 10 years. This way the purchase cost of 50 plants will be 7 crores 54 lakhs and 50 thousand while the total cost towards maintenance and repairs will be 3 crores 55 thousands.The water pumped from the Pench reservoir will be measured at Mahadula and Gorewada with the electromagnetic flow meters installed on feeders of various diameters. An expenditure of 2 crores 80 lakhs 44 thousand 588 is estimated to be incurred. A proposal for tendering has been sent for approval by the standing committee. The proposal is likely to be ratified on Wednesday.
