A four months old female tiger cub was rescued from the core zone of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) recently. According to the forest officials the tiger cub was abandoned by its mother, later who was taken to the veterinary doctors by the park authorities for further treatments and care.The forest has around 90 tigers according to the recent census, informed field director NR Praveen, CCF, TATR and all of the tigers are being detected to locate the mother of the cub. He also said, that a tigress only leaves the cub in a distress situation where the cub is not able to cope with other siblings or in a case where it’s too weak to be alive. The exact location where the tiger cub was found is not provided by the sources.
The cub was seen exhausted and also weak may be because of some illness or due to lack of food. Looking at the condition of the tiger cub the senior authorities of the forest department decided to put her under observation till the mother is found, the cub has been taken to the Transit Treatment Centre at Chandrapur for treatment. The forest authorities have launched a search operation for the mother tigress and trying to locate her since the cub was found.
