To ensure women safety in the city, Nagpur Municipal Transport Committee has started a special electrical bus service by the name ‘Tejaswini Bus’. The special Electric bus service for women is proposed to be inaugurated in September. This electric bus will be having women as drivers, conductors and other employees.
A meeting of the Transport Committee was held at the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Smriti Standing Committee House recently regarding the Tejaswini Electric Bus.
Speaking on the occasion, Transport Committee Chairman Bunty Kukde said, “The Municipal Transport Committee is trying to facilitate various sections of the society through the service of the bus.” Last year, a scheme was brought forth where six percent discount on tickets for senior citizens was implemented.
A bus depot is being constructed at Lakadganj for Tejaswini buses, which is also named as ‘Mother Power Shak Agra’
Committee members Rajesh Ghodpage, Narendra Walde, Nagesh Mankar, Rupa Roy, Vaishali Rohankar, Manisha Dhawde, Archana Pathak, Vishakha Bante, Rupali Thakur, and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Mahite along with transport department officials were present during the meeting.
