Until now it was Maharashtra which went calling to the door of Matoshree, the famous resident of Balasaheb Thackeray and his descendents but Tuesday got interesting as Aaditya Thackeray the scion of Thackeray family himself came calling to Nagpur and how!
Everything about Aaditya Thackeray’s Nagpur trip was different from the until now image of the Shivsena and the Thackeray’s. Young urbane and sophisticated the 30 –something Aaditya proved to b completely different from the muscle power, tough looking and tough talking males of his party. It was interesting to know the Nagpur visit of the young Thackeray was not hardcore party politics even when elections are round the corner instead he chose the more subtle and lasting impact of outreach programme for the youth and building an image for himself.
Many of us have seen Rahul Gandhi go to colleges and interact with young students who are voters this is exactly what Aaditya Thackeray did when he visited Priyadarshini Engineering College. To give him due credit Aaditya was hands on, completely playing the crowd talking in the language they understand, philanthropy and chivalry both standing out as he gave special emphasis to rural while trying to establish a special connect with the female student.
What probably shown out was that the new Thackeray leader was willing to step out of Matoshree on a hectic campaign spree, not only ready to face people but also ready to bend down on a knee if he couldn’t hear their questions. He laughed and cheered with youngsters in their own voice. Obviously, Aaditya is all out to rebrand the Shivsena on this Vidarbha tour and it looks like he could be successful at it.
