The way has been cleared to start new nursing colleges in the state following the withdrawal of a petition filed in this regard before the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court and State government’s approval to the new prospective plan.
Nursing colleges were being approved without the approved prospective plan in the state. Pawan Multipurpose Educational and Social Development Society had filed a petition in the High Court against this. Taking note of the issue, court had barred the government to allow new nursing college in Maharashtra.
Due to this order, proposals of new colleges were hanging. Management of some affected colleges had filed an arbitration application in this case. Pending this petition, the state government approved the prospective plan, hence making the petition filed over the issue in HC redundant.
The petitioner sought permission to challenge the new prospective plan. This was opposed by the moderators. The court rejected the petitioners’ request considering various aspects of the case, after  which the petition was withdrawn.
