Yawatmal: The Pola celebration brought good news for the government-run Ashram schools for the tribal children of Maharashtra as soon these schools will be converted into English Medium with an aim to provide a better future in professional courses like engineering and medical to these students, informed Tribal Development Minister, Ashok Uikey.
The government has also decided to recruit qualified teachers from reputed private schools in order quality education to the children. The transformation of Ashram school will be done in a phased manner to ensure fast work and better education opportunities for tribal students.
Uikey further informed that 50 Government-run Ashram shaalas will be converted into English medium schools in the phase I programme and the admission will be given for standard 1 along with class 6 during the Academic session 19-20.
Currently, 502 ashram Shaalas are run under the tribal development department where the tribals student receives education in Marathi medium.
Uikey informed that the Ashram Shaalas will now be well equipped with better libraries, playgrounds, laboratories along with these subjects like Math’s and Science will be taught in Marathi as well as English for students of standard 6th and above.
