In a horrific incident, a 45-year-old farmer was brutally attacked by the E-1 tigress, while the other sustained major injuries. The incident took place at Dadara village in Dharni Tehsil of the Amravati district.
The incident took place when Shobharam Chavan and Dilip Chavan were sleeping on a machan on their farm when the E-1 Tigress attacked Shobharam and when Dilip shouted for help she attacked him as well. As soon as the villagers heard the commotion they reached the spot but unfortunately, they could not save Shobhrama. Dilip Chavan has sustained severe injuries in the incident.
According to the sources, the incident has caused fear among the villagers. Former MLA, Rajkumar Patel immediately reached Dadara Village to look into the matter. M S Reddy, Additional Principal Chief Forest Conservator along with the Field Director, Melghat Tiger Project has ordered the forest officials to capture the tigress at the earliest.
Rahul Jadhav, Sub-Divisional Officer from Dharni also presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of the victim. Jadhav also gave assurance to provide a job in the Forest Department to the son of deceased, informed the sources.
It should be mentioned that the man-eater E-1 tigress had caused havoc in 20 villages Brahmapuri forest in Chandrapur District almost 4 months back after which she was brought to Amravati district.
Navneet Rana, MP, taking cognizance of the incident met M S Reddy on Friday afternoon and demanded to catch the tigress. On Saturday, Rana visited District General Hospital to enquire about Dilip Chavan’s condition.
