Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the city on September 7 to mark a nationwide launch of a pension scheme for small traders and welfare schemes for unorganized sector laborers along with projects involving Nagpur Metro Rail project, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and Chandrapur Sainik School.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport around 4.30 pm and will then head straight to Nagpur Metro Railway to inaugurate the ‘Aqua-Line’ from Subhash Nagar till Sitabuldi Inter-change Station, along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and MSMEs.
Prime Minister will then visit Indoor Stadium, Mankapur to the inaugurate out-patient department of AIIMS-Nagpur, and Sainik School at Chandrapur, and Tejasvini bus of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, through video-link.
He will also inaugurate a nationwide pension scheme for small traders. Under this scheme, all shopkeepers, retail traders and self-employed persons have assured a minimum monthly pension of Rs 3,000/- per month after attaining the age of 60 years. All small shopkeepers and self-employed persons, as well as retail traders with GST turnover below Rs 1.5 crore and age between 18-40 years, can enroll for this scheme. The scheme is expected to benefit over 3 crore, small shopkeepers and traders.
A review meeting was held on Tuesday among Ashwin Mudgal, District Collector, Chinmay Pandit, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Abhijit Bangar, Municipal Commissioner, and other senior officers to take a review of the preparations. Special Protection Group (SPG) team will be visiting the city on Wednesday to finalize the security arrangements.
