Dark clouds covering the city and thundering roars not only acted as an obstacle in the festivity mood but also created havoc in the traffic system. Waterlogging situation was seen at every area be it Shankar Nagar, Bajaj Nagar, Narendra Nagar, Manish Nagar, Dharampeth, Civil Lines, Ghat road and other low line areas.
Commuters were taking a risk while driving on such waterlogged roads. Potholes only added to the misery of the commuters especially two wheeler motorists. Also the pending work of the road construction was playing a major problem in the traffic jams.
Even the metro station of Subhash Nagar are facing problems due to the heavy rainfall as even the inner premises of the station are filled with water. The authorities worked day and nigh to complete the pending construction work of the divider near Chhatrapati square today morning only to undo it in the afternoon to clear the road from water-logging.
The above video was recorded by a resident of Narendra Nagar, Umang Society. The video is the current scenario of his house. The house is submerged under water and the family is facing many problems due to the insects and dirt that has entered the house with the dirty water.
This rainfall has exposed the NMC’s developmental plan and road constructions as there was no area which wasn’t submerged or waterlogged in just an hour’s rainfall.
According to the forecast of Indian Meteorological Department, Nagpur district is to receive heavy rainfall September 6,7,8.
Thunderstorm and lightning with moderate to heavy rain very likely to occur at many places in Vidarbha region.
People are requested to stay away from electric poles. Animals should be transported from the river to a safe place. Likewise, no one should try to swim in running water or believe any rumors.
