Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar visited Futala Lake and other places to review the arrangements by Nagpur Municipal Corporation for the immersion of household Ganesh idols.
A review discussions was held by Commissioner Abhijit Bangar with the representatives of the NGOs, regarding the immersion of the idols. He has requested the volunteers to make sure that the idols should be immersed in the artificial ponds only.
Green Vigil Foundation, an NGO which was present at the site and was urging the devotees to emerge the idols in the artificial ponds in ​​Air Force Nagar, Futala Lake area. Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi was prominently present at the inspection drive.
According to the information given by the founding president of Green Vigil, Kaushab Chatterjee, 320 Ganesh idols were immersed in the artificial pond on September 3, whereas 220 idols were immersed on September 4. He said that the citizens are taking initiative to keep our lakes clean and doing their bit in protecting the environment.
Abhijit Bangar praised all the volunteers and appealed the citizens to emerge the Ganesh idols in artificial pond and to collect the donation in the kundali kunda.
