Looking at the increase in road mishaps happening in and around the city, the traffic department has formed an accident cell, which will be looking after implementing required measures that need to be taken at the spot of accidents to avert future unfortunate incidents.
Traffic assistant commissioner Chinmaye Pandit said that the department marked several accident-prone areas as ‘Black Spot’ and ‘Hot Spot’. As many as 40 black spots have been marked in the city along with 43 hot spots.   
In the year 2019 from January to September around 178 major road accidents were reported but after implementation of the new program by the traffic cell, the ratio of deaths due to accidents has dropped by 16 percent in the city.
