Hindi Diwas is an annual day celebrated on 14 September in India to celebrate the popularity of Hindi as an official language of India.
September 14 was the day on which Hindi was adopted as the Official Language of the Republic of India by the Constitution Assembly of India in 1949.
The word ‘Hindi’ came from the Persian word ‘Hind’, which means the land of the Indus River. Released in 1913.  It has been strongly influenced by Sanskrit and a lot of words in Hindi come from there. About 400 million people in the world speak Hindi and 120 million have Hindi as their second language.
Hindi Diwas was first celebrated in the year 1953 as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru dedicated this day to honor the precious language. Since then it is celebrated with enthusiasm and joy all around the country.
On this day, many events are organized to honor the language. People unite to witness great speeches from famous personalities. Schools and colleges organize plays and competitions in Hindi to encourage people to participate. Hindi writers and poets unite in one place and take part in activities that make the atmosphere completely vibrant.
