The flute is a very elegant and melodious instrument and equally hard to play but is not everyone’s cup of tea. Shubham Chopkar a professional flute artist from Nagpur has mesmerized the audience with his talent time and again. Shubham is one of the talented flute artists of Orange City.
Shubham informed that “I started when I was 7, but initially as I was practicing classical singing it was necessary for me to learn Harmonium. But while buying Harmonium I could see myself playing flute. Though I bought the instrument but did not played, it for quite some time. Gradually, I started experimenting, the tunes of Harmonium on flute. People were amazed to hear the tunes and appreciated my talent. That’s when I started taking the fine instrument seriously. Earlier I used to perform in front of my family, friends who supported me and motivated me to work hard to tune my skillsâ€.
“I took training from Professional Flutist, Arvind Upadhyay. He not only furnished my skills but also helped me better understand the instrumentâ€, he added.
Shubham a mechanical engineer by profession has his own band by the name The Bansuriwala Band. Â As the name suggests it is an instrumental flute band, wherein flute is the only string which holds the band together. Â The band has performed for Rotary Club, Innovation Parv and many other prestigious events.
When asked about his band Shubham informed that “Our band comprises of 8 members in which everyone is passionate about the art of music and want to take this art on all together with a new stage where people not only appreciate the singers but also the masters of the tunes. The band includes cinematographer, writer, singer and other talented instrument playersâ€.
Sure, it’s impressive when someone can play the flute really well but Shubham is not only an excellent player but also a flute beatboxer which is also known as flute boxing. He has performed in various colleges and competitions and flute boxing is what sets him apart from the other artists.
The Bansuriwala Band has recently started their youtube page to promote the different genres of music through flute and give the music lovers some fine tunes they can tap their feet on. Their first ever video was a conceptual video which was a water drop style video Ehsaan Tera. After that their second video Tu Hi Re soon came in limelight wherein the music was a combination of traditional and modern tunes.
“Our band is making efforts to bring up and support the flute artists of the city. We always have place for talented flute artistsâ€, informed Shubham.
“We have recently collaborated with eminent folk singer of the city Kaushik Biswas. There is no folk band of the city as such and to experiment with the tunes we collaborated with Kaushik and have tried to put forth some amazing performancesâ€, Shubham said.
Shubham expressed his gratitude to the people of Nagpur for giving them immense love and support. The band is all set to launch their new video on Youtube which is based on the unique tunes and techniques.
