The dates of Maharashtra Assembly polls, 2019 has been declared by Election Commission in a press conference held at New Delhi on September 21.
The Assembly election in Maharashtra will be held on October 21, in a single phase across the state. The counting of votes will be done on October 24. Election Commission has also announced the dates of the Haryana Assembly elections to be held on October 21 and the declaration of results on October 24.
The Model Code of Conduct has now come into force after the election dates were announced which means the current state governments will not be able to make any fresh announcements or roll out new schemes.
In Maharashtra, the election will be fought for 288 seats and the Model Code of Conduct will end on November 9, while in Haryana elections will be fought for 90 seats and the Model Code of Conduct will expire in November 2.
A notification for the election of these states will be issued on September 27. Candidates can fill up the nomination forms till October 4, and the scrutiny of nominations will be done on October 5. The last date to withdraw the nomination forms is October 7.
