CSIR-NEERI programme on ‘Advance instruments’ concludes

CSIR-NEERI Programme on ‘Advance Instruments’ Concludes

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur, in association with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), organized a hands-on training program on “Advance Instrumental Analytical Techniques and Preventive Maintenance” for officials of State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) on September 18 to 20.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. J.S. Pandey, Chief Scientist Head, Climate Change and Skilling Division, CSIR-NEERI.

During this three-day training programme, the participants learnt about the basics of instruments and how to properly operate the equipment for routine and special environmental analysis. The troubleshooting techniques were also taught to the participants. The emphasis for this training was on practical hands-on-operation. 

Modern analytical equipment, including Gas Chromatography, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) Spectroscopy, Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, Direct Mercury Analyser, Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) are some of the instruments in which hands-on training was offered.

On concluding the day, the participants praised the training programme and expressed their full satisfaction with the subjects discussed during the training course. They asserted that this training programme will be useful in getting NABL accreditation to their analytical laboratories for quality assurance and control in environmental analysis.

Dr. J.S. Pandey, Chief Scientist & Head, Climate Change and Skilling Division, CSIR-NEERI in his valedictory address said that the CSIR-NEERI would continue to work for capacity building of its stakeholders.

Dr. G L Bodhe, Chief Scientist and Head, Analytical Instruments Division, CSIR-NEERI urged the participants to ensure effective use of advanced analytical techniques for the betterment of the environment. Er. G S Kanade, Dr. G K Khadse, Er. S M Kashyap, Dr. Amit Bansiwal, Er. Piyush Kokate, Dr. A Ramesh Kumar, Mr. Naresh Bokade, Er. V M Shinde, Er. S K Lokhande, Er. Sera Das, Mr. Sagar Nimsadkar, was among the faculty members who were present during this workshop. Er. G S Kanade, Dr. Harshvardhan Singh, Dr. Pradeep Salve and Er. Suvha Lama coordinated this training programme.
