Nagpur’s Vidhan Bhavan witnessed vibrant parliamentary debates and youth leadership as Rashtriya Navyuva Manch hosted the Shaastrartha National Youth Parliament 2026 on May 30 and 31. The two-day event brought together young leaders, aspiring policymakers and students from across the country for discussions on constitutional and legislative issues.
The conference was inaugurated by MLA Ashish Deshmukh, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in democracy. The opening ceremony featured the ceremonial lamp-lighting, the Speaker’s entry with the Rajdand, and the oath-taking of the Prime Minister and Leader of Opposition, formally constituting the House.
Day One focused on the Constitution (Equitable Representation and Delimitation) Bill. Delegates engaged in intense debates on representation and democratic fairness. A rare impeachment motion against the Speaker emerged as a major highlight. In a historic outcome, the Delimitation Bill was defeated, marking the first instance of a government bill failing to pass in a Youth Parliament session at Vidhan Bhavan, Nagpur.
The second day centred on the Uniform Civil Code (Implementation and Reform) Bill, 2026. Heated discussions, a dramatic opposition walkout during Zero Hour and extensive deliberations marked the proceedings. After detailed debate, the Uniform Civil Code Bill was successfully passed by the House.
The conference concluded with a valedictory ceremony attended by Mayor Nita Thakre, Vinod Sir and Amitabh Nigam, who praised the delegates’ parliamentary skills and democratic spirit. The event was evaluated by a distinguished panel comprising Aatish Nigam, Adv. Sumedh Kadam, Adv. Juhi Selarka, Adv. Shubhankar Dable and Adv. Shreyash Khumbhalkar.
Among the award winners, Vedant Tiwari and Samruddhi Askar received Honourable Mentions, Tanmay Salame was named Best Opposition Delegate, Mansi Dubey Best Independent Delegate, Hridanshu Pandey Best Ruling Delegate, while Disha Choube was awarded Best Parliamentarian for her outstanding performance throughout the conference.
Marked by historic debates, legislative drama and active youth participation, Shaastrartha 2026 reinforced the importance of democratic engagement and leadership among India’s next generation of changemakers.
