To facilitate the construction of an underground Metro tunnel between Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square) and the Institute of Science College on D.P. Road, the Nagpur City Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic diversions in the Sitabuldi Traffic Division.
The tunnel work is being carried out by Maha Metro through contractor YFC & BBG Projects and is expected to continue for approximately one year. In view of the heavy traffic movement on this key corridor, authorities have introduced temporary traffic regulations to ensure smooth vehicular flow, reduce congestion and prevent accidents during the construction period.
According to the traffic notification, the first phase of diversions will remain in effect from June 4 to July 3, 2026.
Traffic Towards Institute of Science College
Vehicles travelling from Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square) towards Institute of Science College will not be allowed on the direct route. Commuters will be required to take a left turn towards Variety Square and then proceed via Maharajbagh Square to reach their destinations through connecting roads.
Alternatively, motorists can travel via Zero Mile, take a left turn towards Forest Office Road and continue towards Institute of Science Square.
