The State excise department has drafted a manifesto to minimize the illegal production and sales of liquor ahead of the Assembly polls.
As per the drafted plan, 20 illegal liquor dens have been marked and the officials will keep a tight leash on these dens to avoid any nuisance.
The team of the officers will patrol in the area where the mapped dens are situated. Similarly the hotels, dhabas and restaurants that sell liquor illegally would be raided, sources informed.
The officials of the squads informed, if found selling liquor action would be taken against the violators under Sections 68 (B) of Maharashtra Prohibition Act 1949. The accused may be fined up to 25,000 or an imprisonment of three years as per the provisions of the Act.
The license of those found selling liquor on the days declared as dry days by the district collector will be revoked.
