It’s time for making our city clean, and raise the voice against the people who take it granted. It has been reported that during the last three years, the civic body of Nagpur has collected Rs.2.66 crore in fine from people for littering and defacing the city. As per information, the NMC has taken action against 23,970 people for the same.
As part of its Swacchh Nagpur campaign, the health department (sanitation) of NMC formed squads (swacchhata doots) on December 11, 2017, to take action against those making the city dirty.
Earlier, 41 ex-servicemen were appointed as swacchhata doots. Their strength has now been increased to 87, which includes one team head, 10 zonal squad leaders and 76 security assistants. The team gives notices to those defacing or dirtying the city. Fine is levied for 21 different types of defacing. Those littering public places with construction material without permission are given notices.
As per NMC, the Nagpur city is transforming into the most beautiful city in the country. And the citizens play an inevitable role for keeping the city clean, green and beautiful.
