Every time a man goes down in the jungle an animal is blamed, more practically a tiger is blamed. During a recent incident in Pandharkawda village, where a farmer named Sambha Lakhu Kudmete (45) had met with an unfortunate death in man-animal conflict.
The villagers are suspicious of his death and alleged that he was killed by a man-eating tiger in the nearby area. The farmer, Sambha Lakhu Kudmete from Ballarpur was attacked on Monday after which the forest officials studied the whole scenario which finally concluded that attack was done by a sloth bear and not a tiger.
Kudmete is said to be attacked on Monday evening when he was returning with his cattle from his farm.
The Pandharkawda forest officials have stated that the attack was done by a sloth bear as the wounds on the body of farmer are not of a tiger. Though the area where the attack occurred had movements of a tiger from last three days but not reported on the day of the incident.
The region where the villager got killed is 5km from Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary and 1.5km away from the village.
Along with the forest authorities, doctors who performed postmortem on Kudmete’s body have also claimed that the attack was done by a sloth bear.
