Department of Microbiology of Dharampeth science College recently organised a unique Competition for students of semester five and three where these students through live bacteria created an art form on different agar media. Such type of competitions help to create subject interest amongst students and they get a chance to learn more about these microbes, their mode of actions, and how they are used for the betterment of mankind.
In Inspite of these microbes being pathogens, such type of competitions create awareness among students about how these microbes can be handled,? how to grow them in an artistic manner on agar and how to identify them and so on.
Through such activities creativity of students come to the notice of everyone and also they get trained in handling the aseptic techniques.
The students who participated in the competition were Bhavika Ranpura, Chatusha Asole, Pranoti Punwatkar, Ms. Pardhi, Ms. Saratkar, Ms. Chaube, Ms. Tanvi Deshmukh, Ms. Tadas and Ms. Raut.
The first prize was jointly won by Ms.Ranpura and Ms.Asole.The second prize went to Ms.Prachi Pardhi and the third was bagged by Ms.Tejal Tadas. The competition was very tough and the students enjoyed the activity very much.
The competition was organised by Dr.Archana Kulkarni head of the department and Vice-Principal of the college.
Present on the occasion were Dr. Kathoke, Ms. Pimple, Dr.Pohekar and Sadiya Deshmukh.
The principal of the college Dr.Akhilesh Peshwe congratulated the students and appreciated them for showcasing their art forms.
President of Dharampeth education society Advocate Ulhas Aurangabadkar and other members of the management congratulated the staff for organising such an innovative activity for students.
