City swimmers Himani Fadke and Yash Gulhane clinched gold medals in their respective categories on the first day of Inter-School State Swimming Championship organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare in association with DSO and Nagpur District Swimming Association at NIT swimming pool on Monday. Talented swimmer Himani Fadke clinched two gold medals in Under-17 girls section. In 400m freestyle, she locked 5.00 seconds to secure gold.
In 400 IM category, she clocked 5.42 seconds and won another gold medal. She is the 11th standard student of Shivaji Science College and has been trained under the guidance of Sanjay Batwe and Kamgar Kalyan Mandal swimming pool.
Yash won gold medal with the record timing of 1.10.12 min. in 100m breaststroke event in Under-17 years age group category during the first day of the event.
Yash qualifies for the SGFI nationals swimming competition 2019 to be held at New Delhi from November 16 to 19 to represent Maharashtra state in 100m breaststroke and 100x4m midley relay. He is also participating in 50 m and 100 m breaststroke events in the state level swimming competition.
