To regulate the traffic movements of Sitabuldi main road the cops have recently declared the road as ‘One Way’.This is being considered as the best way to regulate movement of vehicles and avoid congestion in market area. The Sitabuldi Main Road can be used for moving from Variety Square to Loha Pul only.
According to the officials of the traffic police, the Sitabuldi market area is still dominated by old structures, the roads have become narrow. The two-way movement of vehicles was only adding to congestion. The release also acknowledged that major construction is going on in Sitabuldi area but it still felt that one-way movement is need of hour.
One more aspect of Sitabuldi in main road is that it is walkers paradise and shoppers prefer to walk in the market to reach their destination. Hence cops felt that by banning movement of vehicles from opposite direction, from Loha Pul to Variety Square, proper traffic management can be effected in market.
People coming from Loha Pul can use the Tekdi Road to reach Sitabuldi or take left after emerge from Cotton Market Anand Talkies RuB or from near Shani Temple and move ahead.
Sometimes back traffic cops allowed movement from either side as Nagpur Metro’s interchange station work was on at Munje Square in Sitabuldi area. But as the road below Metro station is open for traffic movement, the Sitabuldi main road is now converted into one way.
