The occupancy ratio of the recently launched Tejaswini Bus which is an all-women, Electric bus has seen just 6.29 %. Even the passengers who have been travelling in these buses are just 295 since September 17. In other buses on a regular basis the range of commuters is much higher than what it is seen in these five buses.
The capacity of these e-buses is 4,697 passengers in 77 trips everyday, which is not at all being used. The buses are seen making trips from 7 am till 10 pm and are said to be covering 900 km each day. Each bus are sent on separate routes in the whole city, which includes Sitabuildi to YCCE, Sitabuldi to Defence area, Sitabuldi to Koradi Sitabuldi to Butibori MIDC and Sitabuldi Pipla Fata.
The NMC had spent an expenditure of Rupees 5.14 lakh for these buses while it has only gained 57,011 Rupees in return. The estimated data of the tickets is collected in 14 days of its service. According to the NMC officials from Transport Department, the buses are yet to get a hold in the city amongst the women travelers and as the time will pass it will be run smoothly just like our other facilities.
