Mr. Kaustav Chatterjee, Founder, Green Vigil Foundation awarded with prestigious Late. Dr. Mohan Dharia Paryavaran Puraskar (Award) by the hands of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Hon. Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur, at a ceremony organized by Vanarai Foundation at Baburao Dhanwate Sabhagruha, Rahtrabhasha Sankul, Shankar Nagar. Prominently present during the occasion were Shri Girish Gandhi, Shri Kishore Dharia, Dr. Pinak Dande, Shri Ajay Patil, Shri Swanand Soni and others.
Mr. Chatterjee received the award for his exemplary and consistent work in the field of Environment Protection and Sustainable Development. He and his NGO, Green Vigil Foundation have been working to bring in sensitivity and consciousness amongst citizens and authorities towards environmental sustainability by undertaking various initiatives like educating masses, school & college students, fighting for tree felling, conducting programs for protecting lakes and conservation of natural resources., etc.
After receiving the award, Mr. Chatterjee said, changing mindset of citizens towards Environment is a difficult task and will take a long time, however, the change is visible but is hazy, and will definitely come out with a clear picture soon. Illustrating with examples like dechocking of 9000 trees in Nagpur by Hon. Commissioner, Shri Abhijit Bangar after bringing it to his notice, restricting @150000 kgs of Carbon emissions by undertaking Poornima Diwas Campaign in Nagpur are few initiatives vouching for change in beliefs of citizens.
