Finally, after many months deadlock, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has sanctioned Rs 535 million for a 5.3-kilometer overpass from Sitabuldi to Automotive Square section of the Nagpur city. It includes a four-story transportation structure near Kamptee Road. As per information, this four-story transport bridge is the first of its kind in the country.
As per the reports, regarding the expenses of it the NHAI has asked the Maha Metro to discuss the matter with the state government. However, in return the Metro authorities have asked the highway authorities to approach the government by citing Metro is simply the executing agency. This in real sense infuriated the Union’s minister of transport Nitin Gadkari and on Sunday in a meeting for both the parties, he asked the NHAI officials to confiscate the cost recovery condition and informed the Maha Metro that they will get a new communication from NHAI in next week. Earlier; the flyover was to open opposite SFS Cathedral. Now it will start from LIC square.
As per reports, three-story structures have been already constructed. Here, the first level is Kamptee Road, the second is the Nagpur-Bhopal railway line, the third is the overpass and the fourth is the Metro viaduct. Elsewhere, there are subway viaducts and overpasses on roads but not on rail lines.
Maha Metro had commenced the work on the viaduct approaches and the overpass a few months ago and more than 50% of the work on the viaduct and the overpass throughout the section have been completed.
