It has been reported that the tussle between NMC and local grampanchyat regarding the boundary has adversely affected the development of the new Somalwada area. As per information, due to the dispute the streetlights on the Hadke lawns to Jayantinagari-3 road are not working. The roads in the area are also in deprived condition and which cause end number of problems for the commuters. The public has approached the NMC and gramapanchyat on these issues; however they received a cold response.
Earlier, in a shocking incident, a young man, president of Jayanti Nagari-III had suffered a cardiac arrest, and on the way to the hospital the ambulance carrying him stuck in a pothole and the person died without getting medical help on time.
Jayanti Nagari-III falls under the Beas gramapanchayat jurisdiction but the commuters have to pass through the Somalwada to go there. What is alarming is that the street lights in these areas including Hadke lawns, Prabha Vihar apartment, Tirth apartment, Pallavi Payal cooperative housing garden Prabhunagar, NIT garden and Swami Samarth corner are not working. A memorandum has submitted to the gramapanchayat but no action has taken yet regarding the matter. Afterwards the residents of Somalwada have approached the corporator and again it was ignored. As per reports, more than 224 families are residing in this area and the darkness has creating many problems for the people especially the women are avoiding travelling in night through this area. And the residents of the society have asked the authorities to take action on this issue as early as possible.
