Tax collectors will receive property tax information at a click
It is good news for the tax collectors of Nagpur Municipal Corporation that they no longer have to walk around with a bunch of files to get information related to the property tax department. The Property Tax Department has developed a mobile application that will help them get the details of the property on Android mobile immediately. Nagpur municipality is probably the first municipality in the country with this latest mobile application.
Informing about this, Assistant Commissioner of Tax Department Milind Meshram said, that the name of this mobile application is “Tax Monitoring Systemâ€. It was developed by Mars Telecom Limited Company. It is a GIS-based application which, upon logging in, shows how much the property holders’ home tax is owed, how many years have they been outstanding and the current usage of the property and what information is recorded in the department records. Through this application, information on multi-story buildings will also be available immediately.
Meshram further said, that if anyone’s property tax is due, his information will be displayed in red while the information of the person who has filled the property tax will be seen in green. User ID and password will be given to the employees of the property tax department for this. Through this application all the information related to the property will be obtained in one click.
Information on property without tax assessment will also be obtained through this application. Residential, non-resident and commercial property will be displayed in different colors.
Nagpur has 6.50 lakhs properties out of which the information about 5.78 properties have already been uploaded in the application. The process of uploading the information of 1.5 lakh properties is in progress.
It is noteworthy that the property tax department has divided the whole city into 77 wards.
Meshram believes that through this application, the functioning of the tax department will be accelerated and recovery will be helped.
