As we know the city is gearing up to be a smart city, the Smart City Sustainable Company has which was entrusted with the task has commenced the demolition works on Thursday. However,the residents of these areas are not happy with the move and they expressed their anger and protested against it. The major reason behind the resentment has said to be that they are not informed about the demolition and did not take their consent regarding this matter. They also alleged that the compensation which was announced only exist in papers and didn’t received yet.
The residents of the Bharatwada Tea Point stormed into the demolition team when they reached the spot. The protest march was headed by Shiv Sena leader from East Nagpur Yaswant Rahangadale.The smart project is proposed in areas like Bharatwada, Pardi, Punapur, Bhandewadi areas. The land is reserved for playground, bus charging point, fire brigade, police station, school, hospital and bus parking. As per information, around 5000 houses will be razed. And roads measuring 40 to 100 feet are proposed to be developed in the areas.
Ramnath Sonavani the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) stated that no house will be demolished without permission. He also assured that the affected persons will receive their compensation before demolishing their houses. The deputy CEO of the company has said that every single affected person will get the reimbursement. He also said that earlier they have asked the citizens to submit a no-objection certificate on stamp paper of Rs.100, but they didn’t given heed to this. The money has been deposited to the banks for those who have submitted the stamp papers. And they will get the money in three instalments. At first soon after the submission of stamp paper and second when the house is being demolished. The final instalment will be given while handing over the documents. The Smart City project is authorising all layouts so there is no need of worry, he added.
