Sonegaon Lake, which is situated in Nagpur near the airport of the city, was on the verge of drying up. And after a lot of effort from citizens and authorities, it has underwent a reviving process in which the depth of the lake was increased which resulted in the increase of water level.
As per information, the state government has allotted Rs.18 crore for the beautification of the lake. And for this purpose the land is required and the civic administration of the city has reserved Rs.14.46 from the special fund of Rs.150 crore it received from the state government for the acquisition of land.
As per reports, after getting the status of second capital of the state it has got the second instalment of Rs.150 crore for special fund. The finance committee of the civic authority has prepared a proposal and sent it to the standing committee. This proposal includes Rs.42.56 crores, in which Rs.14.46 crore will be spent on the Sonegaon lake beautification, and Rs.8 crore to architecture department. As per information, the standing committee will take a final decision on this proposal and likely to get a positive approval for the same.
