The frequency of trains operating between Sitabardi Interchange and Khapri Metro Station will increase and a Metro Train would operate every 15 minutes and with a speed of 80 km per hour. Thus, the traveling time in Reach-I between these two stations would not just be reduced to almost half, but simultaneously, the frequency of trains would be doubled from the existing one.
This is one of the major decisions taken by Maha Metro which would reduce the travel time between these two stations. As per the time table, the first and last Metro train service from Sitabuldi Interchange would be at 8 am and 8 pm respectively. While the first and last service from Khapri Metro Station would be at 8 am and 8.30 m respectively. Overall, 100 services would be held every day in this Reach. There has been a demand to increase the train speed from the commuters for some time now. All the necessary trails have been conducted and the necessary permissions from Railway Board, Research Design and Standard Organization (RDSO) and Commissioner of Metro Rail Service (CMRS) have been already sought. The decision to increase frequency and train speed has been taken soon after the permission was received.
It is worth mentioning here that the travel time between Sitabardi Interchange and Khapri Metro Station would be reduced to just 25 minutes from the existing 45 minutes. The increased frequency and train speed will benefit the commuters, especially those working at MIHAN and surrounding areas. Those traveling for academic purposes would also be benefited.
The operation of train service would be based on Communication Based Train Control (CBTC). Thus the commuters now can travel to their destination with utmost comfort and in lesser time.
