Recently Nagpur Veterinary College, Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) in association with Nagpur Canine Club and Orange Dog Kennel  jointly organized  ‘CANIFEST-2019’ to create awareness about pets and their necessity in life, a big event  at the veterinary college premises.
During the event a free health and immunization camp was organised. And a large number of pet owners of the city were present and more than 250 dogs were treated/immunized during the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr A. P. Somkuwar, Dean (Veterinary), MAFSU. Facility for dog registration by Nagpur Municipal Corporation was also provided at the venue. National dog show was inaugurated at the hands of Dr A.P. Somkuwar. Dr S. V. Upadhye, Organizing Secretary, Dr V.M. Dhoot, Dr S. B. Akhare and Dr G.R. Bhojne were present during the inauguration. Expert judges from Australia, U.S.A. India and Russia were present during the show. As per information, the dog handlers were felicitated in the programme.
Several experts, veterinary doctors interacted with school children a regarding how to establish a bond with dogs. Dog show prize distribution programme was sheld.Programme was inaugurated by Col. (Dr) Prof. A. M. Paturkar, Vice-Chancellor, and MAFSU. Dr S.H. Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police, Nagpur was the guest of honour for the programme.
Various events like a Pet’s Friendly Corner for children made the experience of handling puppies, bullock cartrides and camel and horse rides available for the visitors Dr S. V. Upadhye, Organising Secretary, Dr Vinod Dhoot, Dr SBAkhare, Dr GRBhojne, Dr Gauri Khante, Dr VA Banthia and Dr Anup Rathi, President, Orange Dog Kennel, Nagpur worked tirelessly and made the event a success.
