In a major crackdown on two of the most prominent players in theConstruction sector in Dhule District of Maharashtra, simultaneous searches were conducted by the officers of DGGI, Nashik Regional Unit on 22.11.2019 at the premises of M/s. Shirpur Construction Private Limited (M/s SCPL), Shop No. 64, 65 & 66, Maharaja Complex, Main Road, Shirpur, District Dhule (GSTIN: 27AALCS2554D1Zc) and M/s S.B. Deshmukh (M/s SBD), Plot no.1, Maya Saraswati Colony, Datta Mandir Chowk, Deopur, District Dhule (GSTIN: 27ABGFS7721KIZR).
During the investigations, it was observed that M/s SCPL had surreptitiously shifted their operations to a new address but had not intimated the change of the principal place of business to the Department nor had they amended their GST Registration. It was observed that M/s SCPL had evaded GST of app. Rs. 7.11 Crore on the taxable construction services provided by them. On sustained interrogation, Shri Janak Nailesh Patel, Director of M/s SCPL, admitted to these lapses and paid GST of Rs. 7,02,39,941/- against their consequent GST liability. The possible evasion of Service tax by M/s SCPL is being investigated separately.
Similarly the investigation revealed that M/s SBS, a Partnership Firm troi Deshmukh and Shri Pawan Deshmukh as Partners had evaded GST of app. Rs. 6.29 Crore on the taxable construction services provided by them. The evasion of GST was accepted by the Authorized Signatory of M/s SBD in his statements recorded during the investigations and M/s SBD have paid GST of Rs. 6,21,73,655/- against their consequent GST liability. The possible evasion of Service tax by M/s SBD is being investigated separately.
