It is not new for the customers to go with weeping pockets after paying heavy bills in the multiplexes on food items. The article which should be sold at 250 is being sold at five times more rate. Customers are paying 430 for single sandwich and coke in PVR multiplex which is sold in open market at 80 to 100. The administration is silent over this open loot.
Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had launched agitation in October- November 2018 in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur against the extraordinary high prices of food articles at Multiplexes. At that time administration had assured that food prices would be kept as par with the market rates in the food zone of the multiplex.
During the agitation against loot in food zone, the issue of parking charge was also raised. It was then stated that it was unlawful to charge parking fee from the customers. But again, this has started. Now, resentment is brewing among the customers.
Last year when the agitation was launched against multiplexes, it created uproar in multiplexes. In last assembly session, Congress and NCP MLAs raised the issue. Will the government bring a law this time?
MNS state general secretary Hemant Gadkari said that last year MNS had launched agitation against the multiplexes. Police had also registered case against us but no strict action was taken. We will soon launch agitation again against the multiplexes.
