On the directives of Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) has now adopted a new strategy to rein in common violation from citizens, like spitting and dumping waste in public places. On Wednesday, NDS fined 19 persons for defacing area around Samvidhan Square.
The Squad along with officials of Dharampeth and Mangalwari Zone took action against those who were spreading dirt on roads, sidewalks, and other public places.
During the drive at the square, most of the persons were found spitting after chewing Kharra while standing at red signal. Some persons were found dumping waste and defacing public places.
A fine of Rs. 2,600 was recovered from 13 violators for spitting on the road while six were fined Rs. 600 for dumping polythene at the square. A total of Rs. 3200 was realized from 19 persons by the NDS.
As per the plan, the NDS team would be deployed at prominent squares so that people can be caught red-handed while violating the purity of public places.
There is also an idea to increase the fine so that it can act as a deterrent for violators. This step towards the clean city has been taken under the supervision of Dr. Pradeep Dasarwar, Nodal Officer, Swachha Bharat Mission, Virsen Tambe, Chief of NDS, and his team with officials from two zones took the action.
