khushi Mohta a 12 year old girl from Nagpur successfully completed her maiden half marathon (21 kms) today at “Run for Fitness†a Nagpur City Marathon, which was powered by Nagpur Maha Metro.
About 3,000 citizens participated in the event on Sunday morning.
Orange City Runners (OCR) has been organizing the event since 2016, and is supported by 150 various group in Nagpur. This includes supporting runs for schools, colleges, societies and one for the specially abled children as well. OCR also runs a month long training programme ‘Runfest’ for beginners every year. Runfest teaches the technically correct form of running along with overall body exercises and is conducted under the able guidance of Dr Neena Sahu & Dr Mohd Soheb both physiotherapists.
Several senior bureaucrats, corporate leaders, doctors, lawyers, families and students took part in Nagpur City Marathon which includes Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar (10 kms) and Dy Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Mohite (21 kms), Spl. IG KMM Prasanna, DCPÂ Vikram Sali, DCP Chinmay Pandit, DCP Rahul Makhnikar, DCP Gajanan Rajmane, DCP Vivek Masal.
About 100 runners from NMC and about 400 runners from Nagpur City Police and Nagpur Range Police ran for a cause in the Nagpur City Marathon. Earlier around 300 school children had also registered for this unique first edition of Nagpur City Marathon. The Marathon included three distances: Half-marathon (21 K), 10 K and 5 K. For the casual runners and families, a 5 K Fun Run option was also available.
