The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Monday came down heavily on the civic body regarding the absence of parking space in many eateries and directed the NMC to solve the problem as early as possible.The court was hearing a fresh PIL by the Dhantoli Nagarik Mandal over the parking problems faced by residents.
As per the information, the petition mainly highlighted the lack of parking space in many hotels at Panchasheel Talkies to Mehadia Square. And this really created the parking menace and traffic jams in this area. As per the petition, many popular food joints that are operating from the commercial complexes and they don’t have enough parking space for the vehicles.
It also pointed out that the NMC bus depot operating from Patwardhan ground and a private bus depot for the Madhya Pradesh buses are also creating difficulties. Taking note of this the court has directed the NMC to act on this issue with immediate effect.Earlier, the HC has condemned the civic body for only issuing notices to offenders who blatantly violate the norms.
