The Nagpur University Teachers Association (NUTA) has recently staged demonstrations demanding the implementation of the Seventh pay Commission without change.
They made demonstrations in front of the Rashtrasant Tukodoji Maharaj Nagpur University and stated that the State Government has made changes in the original notification, which is against the interest of the college teachers. Despite having made changes, there is no mention of implementation of the recommendations and payment of arrears.
Refusing increments for acquiring M Phil or PhD for in service teachers; changing date for time-bound promotion; changing period for completing orientation programmes; differentiating between UG (Undergraduate) and PG (post-graduate) principals; refusing post of Vice-principal which is accepted by UGC etc, have been made by the state government.
A morcha and demonstrations will be held in front of the office of Director of Higher Education, Pune on June 24. If the State Government fails to act on the demands, demonstrations will be held at Azad Maidan, Mumbai on July 1.
