LAD College has taken an initiative to promote budding girl cricketers by organizing a cricket tournament on 23 and 24 December at Abhyankar Nagar ground. It will be inaugurated at 9.00 AM by Dr. Avinash Deshmukh, Vice President, Women’s Education Society, Nagpur, in the presence of Dr. Deepali Kotwal, Principal of the college and Mr. Sameer Sahasrabudhe.
The main highlight of the tournament is a participation of a team of girls from Rainbow Homes, Hyderabad, which is a social organization working for the protection of children on streets and railway platforms, children deprived of parental care and responsible adult care and from distressed families. The team is being coached by Mr. Govardhan Darisi, an NRI from the USA, working with the girls for their overall personality and social development through games and cultural activities. The other teams are from LAD College, Siddeshwar School, Nagpur, and Nutan Bharat team. The final match will be held on 24 December followed by prize distribution at 12 noon.
The Chief Guest for prize distribution will be Chatrapati awardee, Mr. Prakash Pathak. Dr. Deepali Kotwal and other staff of the college will be prominently present on the occassion. The Department of Sports, LAD college, is taking all efforts for the success of the tournament under the initiative of Dr. D. Sridevi, IQAC co- coordinator.
