It is really a good feast for the bird watchers in city as the Gorewada protected sanctuary which includes Gorewada Lake has turned into a bird watching rupture with the arrival of 50 to 55 species of migratory birds. And this becomes a golden opportunity for the bird watchers to study the birds from close quarters.
As per information, the Gorewada Lake is constructed in the Gorewada Biopark area by Siti Gondin for supplying water to Nagpur. The project is being developed by the Forest Development Corporation. As for an alternative forestry in the Gosekhurd project, various species of wildlife have been preserved. And migratory birds are the main attraction of the lake. As per sources, there are 216 species of birds in the area and many facilities have been provided for the bird watchers.
And after five years, Crested Grebe has been spotted in this area. And many other birds like Purple Heron, Little Grebe, Asian Openbill,Grey Heron, Cotton Pygmy Goose,Spotbill Buck,Eurasion Wigeon,Red Headed Duck, Northern Pintail Duck, Pheasant tailed Jacana, Little Ringed Plover, Plum Headed Parakeet, Golden Oriole,Tickel’s blue fly-catcher have also arrived.And the Forest Development Corporation has provided facilities like guide, binoculars, and bird studies for those who visit to get glimpses of these birds.
