Recently the Civil Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM) had organized international conference on ‘Recent issue in Civil Engineering and its sustainable solution’ on December 27 and 28.As per information, the inaugural function was graced by presence of Er. Ulhas Debadwar, Chief Engineer PWD/NMC,as chief guest and Dr Gajanan Sabnis, Emertius Professor, Howard University ,Washington, D.C as guest of honour and keynote speaker. Chief guest Er Ulhas Debadwar, expressed his views about the recent issues and suggested various means and practices adopted by the Government agencies to reduce the pollution and carbon foot prints for the sustainable development. He also urged the young Civil Engineers to give thoughts for green house effect and energy conversation.
Dr Gajanan Sabnis, in his speech ignited the young minds and provoked the thoughts of solid waste management, water conservation and efficient energy management for sustainable growth and development of country by narrating various examples of USA. Vice-Chairman RCOEM, Chandrakant bhai Thakar blessed the organisers of the conference with his kind words of wisdom. He narrated that population is the root cause of deterioration of environment so it is the need of the hour to control it first, for sustainable happiness and peace of the society. He expressed concern over the traffic and land use density. The various keynote speakers were Dr M Kewalramani, Abu Dhabi University, Dr Vimal Gahlot, Director, Centre for Research and Sustainable Development, Bikaner, Rajasthan and Dr Ritesh Vijay, Principal Scientist, NEERI.The programme was attended by various industry professionals, academicians and research scholars.
